Removal of Patricia Kennedy as President of The 2008 Family Reunion
On February 23, 2008, a meeting was held regarding the family reunion. Prior to this meeting, letters were sent out to family members notifying them of the upcomming meeting and an annoucement was also made regarding the meeting during services at the North Corner AME Zion Church. The meeting went forth as scheduled and during this meeting, Patriciia Kennedy was removed from her position as President and planning initiatives were put in place.
Patricia was removed because she violated the spirit of the position for which she was chosen and acted in a manner unbecoming as the Presdent of our family reunion. Apparently, she believes that her voice and her actions are the only ones which matter and that she can do whatever she likes and the rest of the family must simply fall in line. Her decision to book the Wheels of Peace Motorcycle Club without informing others or getting confirmation from the planning committee beforehand is a prime example.
By her own admission, she only told one person of her plans to book the Wheels of Peace Motorcycle Club and no, this family member was not the Secretary or the Treasurer. As a result of her failure to communicate this plan to the rest of the persons involved in the planning, we wound up with 2 location sites for this year's family reunion. On February 2, 2008, when we realized we had two location sites, Patricia was asked to call a meeting so we could vote on the reunion fee amount to be charged and vote on which location would be the site for the 2008 Reunion. She refused and stated that any family member could call a meeting. So, the Secretary, Teresa Butler, set a meeting date for February 23, 2008 to settle the disputed issues. On 02/11/08, Patricia was notified via email of the scheduled meeting. However, rather then attend the meeting and resolve the matter, her position was those who wanted to attend the Wheels of Pece Motorcycle Club could come to the Wheels of Peace and those who wanted to have the reunion at the Lancaster Recreation Center could go there.
To make matters worse, she mailed an inappropriate letter dated 02/05/08 to family membes informing them that our reunion was going to be held at the Wheels of Peace MC Club and the reunion fee was $25. Again, she acted without consulting anyone else. Her decision to mail this letter as well as the wording of the letter were both in poor taste and lacked good judgement.
Thus, these are not the actions of a President who has the best interests of our family reunion at heart. If the family reunion was at the forefront of her actions, she would have come to the meeting to resolve the problems and not dissuade others from attending the meeting nor would she have sent out a letter which would cause a diviison in the family reunion.
Patricia's actions are clearly the acts of a person pushing forth her own agenda regardless of how they adversly affect the outcome of our family reunion, therefore; she is not the person we wish to have as the President of our 2008 Hood Family Reunion.
